Hello, today I’d like to introduce Volcano Gym, located on Seolleung-ro in Gangnam-gu.

The first impression of Volcano is probably best described as ‘comfortable.’
A high ceiling for competition-length ropes, a floor neatly organized with barbells and plyo boxes, and a space with rings and pull-up bars hanging from the ceiling. Just by looking at it, you can tell this is a place made for people who really train.
From barbells, kettlebells, rowing machines, assault bikes, all the way to gymnastics equipment. It’s a setup that can handle all three areas covered in group fitness: weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardio. Since the space is so big, it looks like you can work out comfortably without bumping into people during class. Volcano is packed with the know-how of the owner, who has run gyms for 10 years.
LinkO came by in person to hear about that know-how. Let’s listen together.
Held this scene down since 2014

The Volcano owner started Cross*Fit in 2014. What changed their perception of Cross*Fit was listening to an overseas seminar.
A married athlete couple was on stage, and someone asked how they prevented injuries. The two looked at each other for a moment, then smiled and answered.
"We haven’t gotten injured once in five years."
For the owner, who used to think getting injured was just part of the deal,
that one line changed everything.

That’s when Volcano started to change.
Classes aren’t about just somehow getting through today’s workout. They put basics before weight, and if the technique isn’t there yet, they don’t add more load. If someone needs encouragement, they raise their voice; if someone needs to rest, they quietly sit down next to them. Volcano doesn’t coach 20 people the same way.
And after seeing a scene at an overseas box, they started building that culture here too: members come in already warmed up before class. Saving something for tomorrow if it can’t be done today. Ten years later, that’s where the reason Volcano has so many long-time members began.
Why Volcano is different

Consistency is everything when it comes to working out. The Volcano owner always tells beginners this. "You can just come when you feel like it." Habits built on willingness, not pressure, last longer.
That’s it.
If you asked them to sum up 10 years of running the gym in one sentence, they’d say this:
"Have fun." With training, coaching, and running the gym. If you’re around someone who’s enjoying it, it rubs off on you too.
The people who have kept coming to Volcano for years were proof of that.
There’s a reason they keep coming back
