[Meeting with CEO Baek Kwang-yeol of Move Day]
Today's guest is Baek Kwang-yeol, who operates Move Day, a 1:1 personal training brand that influences individual fitness, and teaches sports rehabilitation and students at school.
Q. Hello, Mr. Kwang-yeol. Could you please introduce yourself briefly?
A.
I am currently running a center called Move Day that specializes in 1:1 weight and functional training. I'm also operating an educational brand called Move Town, where we provide lectures for instructors.
In addition to this, I'm writing papers, translating books, teaching students, and that's how I'm working.
Q. You have so many titles, Mr. Kwang-yeol. CEO, Professor, Mr. Baek Body himself, and coach who educates trainers and so on.
I thought your journey and values would inspire listeners and provide new insights for trainers.
So let's take a closer look at that journey today.
Firstly, you’re involved in the fitness industry, right, Mr. Kwang-yeol?
(Omitted)
Mr. Baek Kwang-yeol, what does exercise mean in your life?
A.
When it comes to exercise, I think I could describe it as life itself.
This isn't really a heavy talk..
You can't do anything if you're unhealthy while working.
That's why I feel there wouldn't be an issue expressing exercise as life.
Moreover, I've been studying developmental rehabilitation recently, and there are three important aspects of it.
Social experience, physical experience, and material experience, using these three points, you go through the process of developmental rehabilitation.
Ultimately, there's no better medium than exercise to achieve those three points. But if you weave it a little, in this developmental journey called life, you might as well express exercise as life.
Exercise is life itself.
Your work connects you to such meaningful exercise.
What does work mean to you?
Q. Exercise is life itself.
Your work connects you to such meaningful exercise, doesn’t it?
What does work mean to you, then?
A.
Work? If I had to compare it, I'd say it's like a game to me.
When there's a quest, I complete it and gain experience or rewards, and I find great fulfillment through this process. I feel the same about work.
Q. But at some point, feelings of burnout or reluctance might arise, don’t they?
Haven't you experienced such moments, Mr. Kwang-yeol?
A.
That's why you need to equip items.
When you focus solely on one thing, it can feel like burnout, but expanding into something new turns into another opportunity.
There’s an additional sense of accomplishment from that.
Q. What's your new item these days, Mr. Kwang-yeol?
A.
Currently, it seems to be teaching students at school.
Even though I started as a trainer, there was something I was longing for.
As I expressed with burnout before, I wanted to share my experiences with others. As I engage in educational work, I find myself wanting to teach well.
Through conversations with Mr. Baek Kwang-yeol, we've experienced the passion for practicing wellness through various exercises. I hope this energy reaches you as well.
