there are ordinary but special people creating 'valuable work' in their own places.

If we follow their routines and choices,

won't subtle inspiration permeate our daily lives as well?

Make valuable work even more valuable!

The Meetup podcast begins

[Ultimately, a brand is people – Meeting with Mr. Kim Han-kyun]

It's the belief that a good brand is made by good people.

And self-demonstrating that belief,

there is an entrepreneur who has created a brand as a life philosophy, ranging from beauty to wellness.

Valuing the customer's experience above all else,

nurturing even the failures of coworkers as growth resources,

and directly designing a balance of healthy living,

a brand called 'Eagate',

introducing brand founder and wellness practitioner, Mr. Kim Han-kyun.

Q.

Hello, Mr. Han-kyun. Please introduce yourself briefly.

A.

Yes, I'm an entrepreneur named Kim Han-kyun, running a wellness brand called Eagate while living in Jeju. Previously, I managed various beauty brands such as Papa Recipe and Bkos Lab.

Nice to meet you.

Q.

You founded a beauty brand and are now managing the new Eagate wellness brand.

Can you talk about the connection between the motives and the successes and failures you've experienced, and explain about Egaton?

A.

Yes, as you mentioned, while working in the beauty industry, I eventually ventured into this wellness category.

The big criteria for our company's decision-making are:

"Good things to apply,

good things to eat,

and good rest," and we've been tackling them step by step.

So we started with good things to apply first,

and in the end, I wanted to offer a good rest, so I created the brand Eagate.

Read backward, it means a cottage.

At 350 meters above sea level in Hallasan, there's my own cabin in a secluded forest, away from electronics, offering meals that are hard to find in daily life, showing an extreme example of what true rest is.

It's a space where you can practice yoga, meditate on time, read, and create communities with people who seek these things.

Q.

It's such a wonderful and pioneering space.

The interesting point for me was seeing how happy Mr. Han-kyun looked while working hard at Eagatton, chopping wood, and personally researching and making breakfast.

Everyone says Mr. Han-kyun has everything, but the factors of happiness seemed simple.

A.

Actually, it's not chopping wood and being in the mountains that makes me happy,

but feeling happiness in having such a task entrusted to me.

Though chopping the wood in front of me might seem like a small task,

I'm grateful for the opportunity to devote myself fully to it.

Even when I was 20, working at a cosmetic store, people often said, "You look so happy."

For me, happiness wasn't because the job was what I wanted,

but because excelling in what was entrusted to me brought happiness, allowing me to work wholeheartedly.

Q.

It's a shift to realize you can work with that mindset.

So is that mindset innate or a result of effort?

A.

I think effort plays a bigger part.

If there's something I've decided strongly upon reaching adulthood, it's independence.

Since deciding to live my life actively, doing everything I want, I've made an incredible effort.

And the first thing I did was exercise.

The biggest thing I could change wasn't the environment,

but myself.

So I concentrated immensely on changing myself first, and then many things started to change.

It naturally led to this point.

My goal was to become a good person myself first, gathering only good people around me.

I tried hard to make myself a decent person and always did my best at the tasks given to me through effort.

Q.

Throughout our conversation, I've felt Mr. Han-kyun's sincerity, and learned that the power to turn sincerity into ‘action’ derives from the endless effort to be a decent person starting with the desire to change myself.

Through today's conversation, I've become inclined to believe in the strength of ‘just trying’.

In striving to be a good person and to be with good people,

like Mr. Han-kyun, I'll try my best today as well.

Thank you sincerely for being with us, and we'll wrap up this episode.
